En este artículo aprovecharemos para repasar los verbos modales con there + to be. ¡Empezamos!
La teoría
Cuando queremos expresar there + be con un verbo modal, éste ha de colocarse entre las dos palabras. Como siempre, el verbo que sigue el modal (en este caso to be) tiene que estar en infinitivo sin to para todas las personas gramaticales.
- There might be a good harvest this year after all.
Para la forma negativa se pone not justo después del modal, normalmente contraído, excepto con might y may.
- There couldn’t be a better one.
Y en interrogativa el modal se antepone a there.
- Should there be so many passengers on the boat?
La práctica
Vamos con los sonidos /dzeekúdbi/ y /dzeeshhhúdbi/:

Clave de pronunciación
No olvides que la "l" de should, could y would es muda. Por lo tanto, there should be se pronuncia /dzeeshhhúdbi/ y there could be es /dzeekúdbi/.
Error común
Hay mucha gente que confunde it may be (puede ser), con there may be (puede haber). Obviamente esto nos puede causar muchos problemas a la hora de comunicarnos. Por eso, hay que familiarizarse bien con la diferencia entre las dos estructuras a través de las traducciones.
